Meet Gene
Financial CoordinatorThe Abbe • Ross team has deep roots. It all started with Betty Mullinnix, who began her general real estate career in 2002. In 2004 Betty’s husband Gene Bretoi, a licensed real estate sales associate, joined her full-time.
He had recently retired from a successful 20-year career in Mortgage Banking in which he held positions as VP of Residential Lending at SouthTrust Bank, AVP Washington Mutual Bank in Residential Commercial Construction, served as President of Gulf Coast Mortgage Bankers Association, SW Florida manager DeGeorge Mortgage Corp and various other lending positions in the Sarasota/Manatee area.
In 2007 Betty and Gene welcomed Steve Abbe to the team creating Abbe • Mullinnix. Betty passed away in 2019, and Steve took on a new partner, Wendy Ross, creating the Abbe • Ross team. Gene, who had a major role in the back office of the former team, remained in his role of Financial Coordinator, with his main focus on managing all aspects of the team’s finances.
Gene is a Navy Veteran, serving as a naval air traffic controller through his tour of duty. Experienced in sales training, management, and leadership Gene brings a deep understanding of all phases of business operations to the team.
